Man-Madhan-Ambu

The much awaited music of hype “Man-Madhan-Ambu” is here. After listening to them, I felt like writing reviews for each and every number of this album. Hence, needless to mention that these are my personal opinion and if it means to “hurt” anyone, it’s absolutely INTENTIONAL! ;-)

01. Dhagudu Dhattham ; Singer : Kamal Haasan; Lyrics : Kamal Haasan; My Rating: 2/5

After getting inspired by “Alwarpetta Aandava”, both DSP & Kamal have decided to give a similar number. While DSP has shamelessly inherited the tune from this number and also retained his “typical” mathalams (or whatever instrument it is) from his earlier compositions (?) like “Nenjam enum oorinile” from Aaru; he is also inspired by “Ho Jaaye” from Thenaali and brings in those shades in the song.

Kamal tries to give his pieces of advice, but wondering to who the intended recipient is? The verses do not seem to have any correlation to one another. Oops… just recollected that in Kamal’s books, “Pazhamozhi sonnaa anubavikkanum… aaraaya koodaadhu”. Let’s wait for the picturization to see if there’s any difference, at least!

Kamal, however, has rendered well.

02. Who's The Hero; Singer : Andrea Jeremiah; Lyrics : Kamal Haasan; My Rating: 0/5

Mr. DSP, you started with “Jo Jo Jothika” in Maayaavi and it was enjoyable. You replicated that as “Lab Dub Lab Dub” in Unakkum Enakkum, listened to it. Then you made it as “Mambo Maamiyaa” in Kandaswamy, tolerated it for Vicky’s voice. And ruthlessly you have faked it as this song. If you have lost tunes, stop composing. It’s a pity that a “Dr.” had to pen lyric for this awful copy of yours! Pathetic!

03. Neela Vaanam; Singers : Kamal Haasan & Priya Hemesh; Lyrics : Kamal Haasan; My rating: 2/5

“Vaan megam… poopoovaai thoovum”, if sung at a slower pace, it will start like this “Neela vaanam.. Neeyum naanum”. It starts real well Kamal singing unplugged! (for a moment, I thought it was Adnan Sami singing!) But, not sure why a tempo & a tune has been “forced” subsequently. And everything that follows seems “forced” and not gelling well with the start. Kamal’s claims to be an atheist, but don’t understand the reason for forcing in a verse from “Divya Prabandham” in a “carol/gospel” format. Looks like a confused men’s work. If at all something is good about this song, it is again Kamal’s rendition. Made for Kamal! Dr.jee – Consider singing only for ILayaraaja or may be AR Rahman. Rest are not worth!

04. Oyyale; Singers : Mukesh Suchitra & Karthik Kumar; Lyrics : Viveka; My rating: 1/5

Hell a lot of songs have come like this, an addition to that list. Don’t wish to spend time in reviewing any aspect of this cliché. I assume that some selfish souls would have “imposed” this song to Maddy! Poor chap, if that’s true!

05. Kamal Kavidhai; Singers(?) : Kamal Haasan & Trisha; Lyrics : Kamal Haasan; My rating: 4/5

Huh! Here is some “Kavidhai” talents of Kamal unleashed! To make DSP’s job easy, we already have some work done by AR Rahman for Iruvar (Unnodu naan vaazhndha) & Duet (Kavidhaikku poruL thandha) and it has been retained. The intention of exposing Kamal’s tamizh fluency & versatility is vivid by making Trisha pair him. She really has “just” tried to talk tamizh, not bad attempt. She has to be taught the difference between “N” &“n”, “L” & “l” etc. Kamal could not succeed or was not attempted intentionally?

Trisha’s part of this poetry about how women are considered or rather assumed in an “intimacy”. Kamal’s part seems to be an appeal by women to God on their requirements on men. Towards the end, he brings out atheism in his own way – totally confused & confusing manner.

DSP – You suck man. This is supposed to be a “kavidhai” and don’t want you shouting behind “vendum”, “vendum”. It spoils the beauty of Kamal’s rendition!

Good work by Kamal in terms of penning & rendition. Moderate rendition by Trisha.

06. Theme Of Mma; My rating: 1/5

07. Manmadan Ambu; Singer: DSP; Lyrics : Kamal Haasan; My rating: 1/5

A typical cacophony & a cliché of Kandaswamy theme song, with DSP running his mouth. Save your ears!

My Verdict:

Avg. Score: 2/5. One of worst albums from DSP who started well, however does not have enough in him to sustain in market. No wonder that he was chucked out from Telugu industry after some refreshing music of Taman has taken over there. This album is not recommended if you really want some good music.

Man-Madhan-Ambu: Isaiyil kuri thavariyadhu!
